Star Awards turned into teaching moments

Today, my eldest was awarded the Star Student award…again. He’s received this award since Kindergarten. I try not to be overly excited for him or even show my excitement at all because this child of mine…hhhmmmm…TOO SURE! He is smart, and boy does he know it. He’s reminded me and about his Star Awards since we got the letter from school, and every time, he adds a blardy toy or playstation game on his list of things to reward him with. Monday evening on the car ride home after school, son brought up his Award ….again! I get his excitement-- but then the conversation suddenly turned sour when he started comparing himself to his little brother and his cousin who have never gotten the Star Award at all. That high pitch in his laugh sounded so evil I wanted to reach over the slap him across the face….INSTEAD.. I hit him where it hurts most…his EGO. ‘EGO is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity’ and Pride is the burden of a foolish person’. "Son, you are NO bett...

Running on empty!

We are finally..somewhat settled into our new home. It's been almost 2 weeks yet it feels like it's taking forever for us to be all moved in and blardy hell be settled! It may have something to do with the fact  that I'm extra and I want everything done and everyone to behave and move a certain way! Needless to say, I'm micromanaging everything and everyone! Oh well.. Our condo is looking more and more like a home each day and even though I still have my earrings and shoes in a box somewhere, I won't throw a tantrum (not yet!) because my closet is still not 100% functional due to the husband moving at a snail pace to put up the extra shelfs I asked for 3 weeks ago..men!!!!...i tell ya.......... This move was both exciting and draining. Exciting because I finally ticked off one of the biggest things on my bucket list, but draining because, well, because I felt like I moved everything myself ... which i literally did. This move also meant that I now drive 30minu...

Friday Afternoon Thoughts

Yikes! This blog looks sad. Last post - Nov 2016!  What the heck happened? - PLENTY actually! hehe Other than the usual career and family balancing act, I’ve had to give myself pep talks as time went by so I don’t lose my mind in public, at work or in front of my children - well that last one is not true b ecause I'm pretty sure I've lost it infront of my children more times than I can count this year choohooo 2017 started off with a Bang! Work politics, world politics, Trump poliDICKs, politics in general, family adventures, family dramas, self-development, self pity, shit rugby performances and daily intake of Hokulani cupcakes ; you know, the usual. I took on more responsibilities of coaching more people at work – helping them realize their potential and help set them on the right career path. At one point, I convinced myself that I would actually make a kick ass psychologist. Ha! inside joke If you know me, you know I am not good with EMPATHY – if so...

random meanderings

December is around the corner  and  I’ve been feeling my age creeping up on me lately.  Yes, I get it, lots of good life ahead to appreciate.  But, there is this bitch in my ear whispering that  I am not as young as I used to be.  I'm 30 ish – and I hope I’m owning the ‘ 30s is the new 20s ’ hehehe.  Anxiety attacks from balancing work, family and life in the past 7 years  has positively fast-tracked my aging by a decade (at least)  – that much I’m sure ! Earlier this year during some pregnancy complications, my OBGYN said something that got a light bulb flickering in my brain somewhere,  “ with every pregnancy, your body changes because your body is not as young, tight, and elastic as it used to be!”   (yeah she said elastic…bitch whaaaaaaaaAAA?) Her words ring truth - my life is going through it's own changes,  my body is constantly changing,  my skin is...not so much elastic   and m...

March 16th

Well, hello there you!  You would have turned 26 today.  And man, that is so many years.  If you were here, we celebrate with dancing, and all the ice-pops we could find.  We'd dance and we'd eat until we get sick and dizzy from it all.  By now you'd probably have a pretty little lady and maybe some little people too.  They'd look like you.  The same radiant smile always plastered across every little face,  the same beautiful flint of mischief in every eye.  We'd dance and we'd sugar ourselves silly, and we'd laugh.  Oh how we would all laugh, if you were here.  But.... You arent here. You aren't You're there.  So the birthday wishes? They're all mine.  Did you not know that's how it works?  Silly you.  But I only need one wish My wish? I wish you were still here. I wish you didn't have to get on that motorcycle that day. Oh how I wish to see your face one more time. ...

pokies and ish

3 weeks ago, I drank that nasty sugar drink that all pregnant women had to take to find out if they've got gestational diabetes. 3 hours later, I felt my ass was about to break into half from sitting the whole time. Next day - Doctor called "You are boarderline diabetic" meaning, she wanted me to change my diet etc to control my diabetes. the fuggggg? what diet? Anyhow, fast forward to 3 weeks later, my fasting or sugar levels when i first wake in the morning are still 10pts higher than the actual normal levels. I put off the insulin and told the doctor to give me a couple of weeks to fix  it the natural way like....an unwanted amount of walks around the block, up and down the stairs at work instead of using the darn elevator, consuming copious liters of water and veges...my sugar levels were still at a high....blardy shat! Doctor visit yesterday : " Don't worry, it's not you, its the hormones and the fasting or early morning one is usually the hardes...
