Happy expensive birthday

This past Friday was the hubby's birthday. I am not your typical wife so of course I didn't make breakfast in bed etc etc. What I did do was tell him before I left for work "go buy whatever you want for your birthday" this was my lame attempt at making him feel good on his birthday because....well, I got too busy with work and other things that I didn't even get my poor husband a present or even plan anything aka I totally forgot  about  his birthday. What I forgot to do was put a price cap on that darn statetment. What I should've said was "here's $100, go buy yourself whatever you want" 3 hours later, the hubby called and I could hear his excitment on the phone. "Guess what I got for my birthday babe?" "What?" "A DJ system. It came with a the box too. It's usually $1400 and the box is usually $300 but I got it for a steal. ONLY $680 for the whole thing including the box" I stopped listening at $14...

KuaBackBack mocks the KuaBack

This week, I helped a client - an arrogant Samoan guy who interviewed me and found out I was from the kuabacks. After laughing AT me for coming from the 'kuabacks', he said "oooooooka se mamao suga o le mea e ke sau ai" I smiled and nodded politely. He was clearly a fob with broken English - while I was trying to converse with him in Samoan, he kept answering me in pagupagu engrand. (btw, i hate it when samoan's do that - I talk to them in Samoan and they still reply in English like they don't know how to speak Samoan eh) The whole 10 minutes of him sitting in my office felt like a lifetime. I wanted to get the closing done already and get him out as fast as I can. He kept making snide remarks about my kuaback village and me being an actual kuaback - the pigs on the road, the long bus ride to get home, the outside kitchen, the amo-popo crew etc etc. Whatever was coming out of his mouth, it was all in a mocking manner. He was laughing about it himself....

Are you taking care of yourself?

I'm on day 2 of a 3 day-off from work break. Instead of spending it like I usually do (cleaning house, laundry, running errands etc, I simply did ...... NOTHING domesticated. I'm a bit guilty though, because I didn't even feel bad about doing NOTHING! I started the day off dropping the kids to daycare/school. Next was a 9am appointment with the chiropractor who told me that my back is basically messed up and that the muscles in my neck are sooooooooooo TIGHT it'll probably take their massage therapist a while to get these muscles to relax. I wasn't surprised at all - you see, I've been having neck and back problems since 2004 when I got whip-lashed at the Wet & Wild Hawaii (yes, I know what you thinking when you hear that ;) I have seen countless doctors and 2 chiropractors who continue to tell me that I am totally FINE and that it is all in my head. In simple terms - they were saying that I was going kookoo  in the head and making things up. So I sto...

My cousin's play is in Auckland.  I've never seen her act (apart from her random faleaikus)  but I'm sure shes just as fabulous on stage as she is as Bianca. hehe.  If you're in Auckland, check out Birds at the Basement - 2 more days left.

nuurrr good

It’s been 3 months since I finished school. I had planned that I would get to bed by 10pm (the latest) every night since that last day of school. Fast forward to today, I’m still trying to break my 3am routine of cinnamon roast crunch cereal washed down by a huge cup of milk (there’s my secret to being oh so voluptuous. HA!) At first I thought “aaaahhh…give it time, your system needs to adjust – SLOWLY”. One step at a time. I have replaced studying like a vasti with reading, watching movies/tv series, cleaning, finding recipes to try (the wannabe Martha Stewart in me), thinking up activities for my Young Women at church, and camping on Pinterest. HAHardyHa! 3 months gone – and I still go to bed at 3am. Something is wrong with this picture. I need to relax and air out my brain. Better yet, I need to reset my clock to normal – NOT my normal but the normal for a normal human being. Ia lava ga, la ka foi a le 12 e le koe pi’i maka.

Crying

Image
Did you know that crying is the bestest therapy there is for a broken heart? Yes, CRYING! I found myself crying to sleep, crying in the shower, crying while driving, crying at work - I think I've cried just about everywhere I've set foot on/in since Sept 4th 2013. Crying is good It's good for your well being It's good for the soul Crying is blowing my nose on anything I can find including my comforter and pillow cases. Crying is screaming in my pillow selfishly asking, WHY? Crying is the affection and courage that a 3 year old child shows while he holds a brave face and hugs his sobbing mother telling her "it's ok mommy, Mama Sete's gone to heaven and gonna fly with the golden angels". Crying is my husband holding me all night as I sob my life away. Crying brings families together - we cry, we laugh and we cry some more. Crying is peaceful and calming And as I go through all the pictures and reflect on ou...

TOO MUCH

After a nice short visit with my folks back home in July, I returned to a promotion at work. At first, I was excited, after all, I killed myself going back to school in hopes of a better paying job. It's been a month and half into the new job and I'm figuring out that my life is NOT A LIFE..at all.  I feel like a demented lunatic at the end of a working day, I only see my children in the morning before dropping them off to daycare/school and maybe 3hours before bedtime. My husband is starting to get annoyed that the reason we moved closer to town was so we could spend more time as a family, however, the new changes with my job is making it difficult to have a decent family day without calls from work. I haven't cooked  a decent meal for my family in a while, I haven't gone on a date for a while, I haven't gone to the beach, haven't gone shopping - basically haven't done anything FUN at all lately. My conversations revolve around strategical reforms and co...
