baking fiesta & big fat samoan family

One of my latest obsessions--BAKING. tadaaaaaaa I must confess, before I got married, I never baked anything ever. I was never any help in the kitchen when my mom was baking up different colorful desserts for the church gathering or family gathering. BUT, I was always the first one to taste/eat the goodies. When I got married and we moved into TVA, all I heard and saw were new married women exchanging/talking about recipes, all kinds of recipes. I thought, 'eh, typical LDS wives, always cooking, cleaning etc etc' One day, I got invited over to a girls night hosted by my neighbor, where they cametogether to bake all kinds of desserts. I had nothing to do so I went, and admit that I LOVE LOVE LOVED it. I fell in love and wanted to do it all over again.  So after the baking fiesta that night, I asked & gathered everyone's recipes and told myself I'd teach myself how to bake. It didn't seem at all that hard with the help of 5experts Needless to say, my first baking...

Shopping-EPIC FAIL

This past weekend I got some time to go shopping. (after months of no shopping..i was getting depressed with the lack of retail therapy) And since I’m on my way to be the fattest ugliest pregnant woman alive, I thought ‘ screw the dresses, I’ll just get me some new shoes’ So off I went to Macy’s. They had 30% off. And whalaaa..all the size 9s and 10s were all gone. I sat down and secretly cursed my Filipo & Chinese ancestors for having lousy genes. The ‘small’ feet could do some much good for a woman in my state, so those gorgeous size 8s and 7s can slip right through. Aarrgghhh..Walked out with much disappointment and drove down the road to ROSS. I was sure I’d find a size 9 or 10 there for my fat Samoan Ka’amu size feet. Blardy hell, all the big sizes are sold out. Damn Damn Damn! I figured, forget it, I’ll just buy a dress to make use of this drive to town. I wasn’t paying attention to the racks I was looking through. I liked everything on the rack xcept nothing fit...

confusion

Tai's had the cold for a couple of days now, so the baby daddy took him to the doctor today for a check up. Tonight, his fever sky-rocketed like the past two nights.  Always around the same time.  Last two times I took him to ER for blardy high fever, the doctor gave him a dose of IBuprofen, with a dose of SUNMARK fever medicine; then instructs me to give him Ibuprofen every 6hours and fever/cold medicine every 4 hours.  To save me $25 from seeing the doctor everytime Tai gets a cold, I've literally got this routine instilled in me brain.  It's worked out just fine.  The baby daddy however is too much on the fiapoko side and still wants to see a doctor, who always tells us to "do the same thing you're doing right now" duhhhh So back to his fever sky-rocketing again tonight- When Tai and his dad got back from the doctor's office, the baby daddy said to me " don't give him the fever medicine anymore, they said the Ibuprofen is fine for now plus yo...

The fiery 'waves'

This past September, a friend of mine flew to Samoa for the Tsunami Anniversary and she attended the 'launch of the Galu Afi'. I had asked her to buy me a copy. Almost two months later, I finally get my copy in my hands and I couldn't wait to get started.  BUT, I had family and friends over for toonai so the only thing I could do was flip through the pages in between serving the table, feeding my 13month old, and making conversations with our guests (bad manners) Today, I found myself thinking about nothing but 'what's next' in the 'Galu Afi. I was off from work yesterday because I was sick, and I found myself sitting on my toilet bowl anxiously flippin' through the book, while my son was wrecking havoc in our living room. When I was in High School, the bathroom was the perfect place to escape with a book, where my annoying brother and lil sisters didn't bother me. I guess it's become a habit because I didn't need to lock myself in the bathr...
