look for the little reminders!

The past couple of weeks have been quite challenging for me - to say the least! On top of everything I'm doing, I got appointed as a CDI for the Chamber of Commerce! I was excited and humbled but I was also drawn back at the thought of trying to organize my life in order so I am not running around like a mad woman! As was expected, there is so much going on that I can't even begin to comprehend how overwhelmed I got this past week! Meeting after meeting, session after session, dialogues left and right, decision decisions - my brain was literally fried! So as I was having a pity party feeling all sorts of sorry for myself - I thought of saying a prayer * stop rolling your eyes - true story* I don't remember that last time I prayed.. My stress levels were up to my eyeballs and I needed just at least an hour to myself, clear my head, and NOT THINK! After my short prayer, I went for a walk . As I was walking down the street (all lost in my own little world) I bumped ...

Forget the iron - throw 'em in the dryer!

It's the hubby's birthmonth - being the thoughtful, dutiful, loving wife that I am, I decided last month that for his birthmonth, I will do something nice for him everyday! to make up for always forgetting his bday since we got married! Little things that I never do that will surely put a smile on his face *ahem* Things like making him his favorite breakfast of pancakes and turkey bacon! (because i can't remember the last time I made the man some breakfast) or taking the trash out for the whole week or doing his laundry or helping him clean out my car (Ok, I better stop there coz this list isn't making me look like a good wife) Anyways, It's now down to his birthweek! Scratch that, it's 2 days away from his birthday! I have done ZILCH! nada. NUTHIN'! Nothing to show for, ova le faakele wind ae leai ma se mea o faia! So last night when I realized what a useless wife I am, I started suggesting all these fancy places we can take him to for dinner....

Lost in translation

Today was my 1st Chamber of Commerce meeting….. I was the only person under 40. I felt… Lost…. Stupid…. and Lost again…. 2 hours felt like forever. aaaaahhhhhhhhh…bring on the next one...

Create alignment!

With only 5 years of management under my belt, I have learnt great many lessons. Good & Bad! My favorite one is - ALIGNMENT! Just like a car needs to be aligned in order to function properly, an organization needs to be aligned to succeed! Alignment does NOT just happen - it is CREATED! Alignment is critical if you want to get the right things done and move your team/organization forward in the most effective and efficient way possible. I was reminded of this great lesson today after sitting in on a meeting that had no sense of alignment! Seriously! Instead of blaming your followers for lack of alignment, please know that it is your responsibility as a leader to create alignment! Here are the 3 components for you to start with: 1- Contact - through coaching sessions, team meetings etc 2- Communicate - people cannot read your mind, you have to speak up. Be literal!  3- Connection- create a connection. Open up and let them in. Earn their trust! ...

Facebook Whattttt?

I am happy to announce, it's been 5 days without Facebook. And I don't even have withdrawals. Seriously! I don't even miss it! Honest lol except now, I actually have to write an actual email. SO i had to check if everyone still has the same email addresses I had eons ago! Hello gmail…I'm baaaaaaack!

fiapoko 'bra'

So I finally got time to pick up my usual perfume bottle from Victoria Secret this weekend! It's always dangerous to go there when they have their blowout sales. It was a mad house! and I was spending ..... like mad....lol So while I was checking out, the supervisor handed me a scratch card! "Scratch the card and see what it says" I did. and it said "FREE BRA up to $50 in value" I got too excited " yay I get to own a $50 bra " who the heck spends $50 on a damn bra? If you know me, then you know that my budget for bras are usually $15 max ( which is why I only buy from VS when they have sales)  My $15 walmart bras suit me just fine fank you vedy much! I left my shopping at checkout while I ran to the back to grab my $50 bra! A floor girl came up and said " ma'am do you know your size ?" Of course I do I'm a 36D Why don't we just fit you just in case? I let her do her thing and she says " good thing we fit...

And this would be my 3rd time deleting...or rather, deactivating my FB page.  aaahhhhhhhh....It feels good! So good that I had to blog about it..choohooo the main reason for deactivating this time is....I need to get off my arse and lose the extra voluptuousness. FB doesn't help because when I see pictures of food and they look so yummy, I tend to drive to the store to pick up that exact same food to satisfy my cravings.  So buh-bye FB!!!! NO ONE got time for your temptations.. bye girl

Thoughts on a boring afternoon!

As if my life is not chaotic enough already, I've been thinking of going back to school. Yes, going back to school!  Like I didn't have a rough time the last time I decided to go back to school!  I mentioned it to the hubby and his response was - "hunnie, I don't like the diva, bitchy, witchy, cold blooded wife, especially when you have your period and you're stressed ....sooo yeah, NO!" SHEESH! so much for a supportive husband. hhmmppphhh! Anyhow, I continued my search for PHD programs and how much it costs one to get a PHD! Daaaaannnngggg, e pu le panty e lei amaka le first semester! Then I started looking for scholarships/sponsorships!  Let's face it, my work sponsored my MBA, I'm not sure they're willing to invest in me again..bhahaha I have been reading up on Cambridge and Oxford scholarships - but that is so unrealistic given I don't have the guts to leave my boys for 3 years of study abroad. What a bad m...
