My namesake, my Nana

Image
Two days ago, I got some disturbing news from home that I started looking for the next flight out. My Nana was rushed to the hospital due to a high fever that spiked, made her throw up  and by the time they got to the hospital she was all YELLOW!!!!! Doctors are saying she might possibly have stomach cancer  but, they won't know for sure until they get the results of the bloodwork  they were sending to New Zealand (This is silly but that's a whole post for another time) Feb 2013 - 78 and rocking it My Nana is 78 years old.  She got into a car accident with my Papa back in 2007, fractured her skull,  suffered broken bones,  but she survived and has been bed ridden ever since.  She is a fighter - no doubt.  9 years she's been bed ridden 9 years she never gave up Sometime ago - she told me on the phone that she had already planned her own funeral She had already picked out who will giver her eulogies Of cour...

Random thought

Ever wondered why there's a bunch of men with mistresses? Or ever wondered why many women are mistresses aka home wreckers? Every time I go back home I see this almost everywhere. It's sad because it's become a 'norm' - a part of everyday life. I feel like an outsider in a strange (or I should say WEIRD) place. The saddest thing about it is, EVERYONE knows about it - I mean come on, Samoa is a small place - everyone knows everyone's business. Call me ignorant or arrogant or whatever you like - but the fact remains  that this happens and has been happening. I just want to know. WHY????????

Welcome to America

Yesterday, March 13th, 2013 at exactly 11am, I, along with 129 other aliens , pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. A good friend of mine asked me after the ceremony " So how does it feel to be an American citizen? " Honestly? "t he same as before I was even an American citizen" hehehehe except NOW, I get to vote who represents me in congress, and who I think could lead this country to greatness! It was definitely one life event worth telling my future generations - so if you're one of my future generators reading this 50years from now - just remember that your Mama made a lot of sacrifices to get here. Yes, like sacrificing a truckload of good BOGO shoe sales just so I have enough money for the immigration fees. A whole week of nothing but immigration paperwork because we couldn't afford a lawyer to do all this work for us. Reading up the whole preparation booklet and faithfully listening to the audio CD until I fell asleep l...

Too smart for his own good

While doing homework with my 3 (almost 4) year old, I felt like I was the kid and he was the adult. He told me his schedule which was ; Eat - homework - watch tv (candy) - shower - dinner - sleep ( exactly in that order) this is what I preach to him everyday after school, and after 2 weeks on vacation, I thought he forgot all about it. We sat down to do home work and I noticed he was rushing through writing his letters. Me - why are you rushing? Slow down and focus Tai - I'm using my time mom. You don't waste time Me - eeeerrr say what? Tai - I have many homework. I'm usin my time to finish it coz I have to read my book Me - so why are you rushing? You have the whole afternoon to do homework Tai - hellooooo? I wanna watch my 'power ranger' movie. Duhhhh Aahhhhh, gotta love this little monkey

Jill Brzezinski-Conley - Documentary

When I was growing up, I was told to "not be anyone but myself". And that's how I am, I mean, that's how I was until 2years ago, when I heard and met Sue Bryce (online) . Yes, I said it, I want to be like Sue Bryce when I grow up!! Anyways, this is not about Sue, this is about Jill Brzezinski-Conley, who I think is a beautiful inspiration to all us women. This documentary below was produced by SUE to document and tell Jill's story. I'll let it speak for itself. The Light That Shines from InBedWithSue.com on Vimeo .

TRYING!!!

Yes, as promised, I am trying my best to keep up with this here blog like I don't have a million and one things on my TO DO LIST! So tonight's post is about SCHOOL WHY DID I GO BACK TO SCHOOL AGAIN? Gosh, this stuff is so not doing it for me right now. It's Friday night (or Saturday morning I should say). Instead of doing something fun, I'm parked here finishing assignments, taking a quiz and taking a FINAL. Yes, I just finished all those and took me about 7hours top. I thought to myself, I spend 9-10hours at work, 5-6hours on the computer at home for school, and maybe 2-3 hours with my kids and about half an hour or 1 hour with my poor hubby. The other 3-4 hours I'm in bed or on the couch sleeping. School and work is taking over my life. And as much as I DO NOT like this routine, I realized that I actually DO NOT have a choice. I've spent too much time, effort and energy on school to quit now,  and I cannot quit/resign from work if we still want to liv...
