Nothing is FREE

For the past couple of months, I've been getting emails for photography quotes etc. I direct them straight to my website www.jennphotog.com The case is always - they have been on the website already but wanted to see if I have any discounts available - which is totally fine with me. I ALWAYS work with my clients for an affordable package. However, this latest conversation blew me off and pretty much left me annoyed. I received a phone call and it was someone getting married and requested a quote. Let's call her Tau short for Taufaavalea Tau: Hi my name is Tau, I'm getting married and I absolutely LOVE your work. me: oh, thanks Tau - so what can I do for you? Tau: I'm getting married (on this date) but I'm wondering if you offer discounts me: sure, it depends on what you want etc Tau: I was thinking of photos before the ceremony with just us and our line. Maybe an hour before the ceremony. Photos from the ceremony of course (DUH). Then photos ...

I guess my plate is not full ENOUGH!

I've been struggling to find balance in my life lately. (This is all about me so feel free to move on to the next blog :) As I was saying, balance has become a thing of the 90s. The days of breezing through my calendar are long gone. I am in the present - where I never get through everything I schedule myself to do in a day. Frick, I have to schedule my date nights and schedule a time for the gym. (seriously) No matter how hard I try to organize myself and my oh-so- fabulous life, things keep popping out of nowhere and I find myself trying to schedule my whole month 2 weeks before the month actually starts. I thought with school being over with, I would have more time to do some photography (which may I add - I have been neglecting lately) , spend more time with my boys and just more time to blardy hell sit alone and just chill. But, let's just say - God and everyone else has other plans for me :) I got called to be the 2nd counselor in Young Women for my Ward 4 wee...

Happy expensive birthday

This past Friday was the hubby's birthday. I am not your typical wife so of course I didn't make breakfast in bed etc etc. What I did do was tell him before I left for work "go buy whatever you want for your birthday" this was my lame attempt at making him feel good on his birthday because....well, I got too busy with work and other things that I didn't even get my poor husband a present or even plan anything aka I totally forgot  about  his birthday. What I forgot to do was put a price cap on that darn statetment. What I should've said was "here's $100, go buy yourself whatever you want" 3 hours later, the hubby called and I could hear his excitment on the phone. "Guess what I got for my birthday babe?" "What?" "A DJ system. It came with a the box too. It's usually $1400 and the box is usually $300 but I got it for a steal. ONLY $680 for the whole thing including the box" I stopped listening at $14...

KuaBackBack mocks the KuaBack

This week, I helped a client - an arrogant Samoan guy who interviewed me and found out I was from the kuabacks. After laughing AT me for coming from the 'kuabacks', he said "oooooooka se mamao suga o le mea e ke sau ai" I smiled and nodded politely. He was clearly a fob with broken English - while I was trying to converse with him in Samoan, he kept answering me in pagupagu engrand. (btw, i hate it when samoan's do that - I talk to them in Samoan and they still reply in English like they don't know how to speak Samoan eh) The whole 10 minutes of him sitting in my office felt like a lifetime. I wanted to get the closing done already and get him out as fast as I can. He kept making snide remarks about my kuaback village and me being an actual kuaback - the pigs on the road, the long bus ride to get home, the outside kitchen, the amo-popo crew etc etc. Whatever was coming out of his mouth, it was all in a mocking manner. He was laughing about it himself....
