Mikey ate my kekesaigas & masipopos

So we just found out last week that we have a household friend who’s been nibbling off our stocked up samoan goodies or anything in the cabinets, and his name is Mikey, and in case you’re wondering, he’s a fat ass rat. (eewwwww) We’ve set up mouse traps everywhere in our kitchen area but somehow, Mikey managed to duck all these traps to get around because up to this day, there is still no rat on any of the traps. Aarrrggghhhhhh Two days ago, I bought 3 huge containers from WalMart so I can store all our cabinet food for now coz Mikey is still on the loose. But when I got the containers, It was already too late; Mikey had already eaten my kekesaigas and masi popos. (damn you Mikey) Now I’m kekesaiga-less and masipopo-less but luckily, the darn rat didn’t get to my bongos and peanut ruffs. Now that would make me really ai’u..ahar..stob moy ai’uvalea royte now. shux So now I’m sulking in my brand new leather office chair coz it’s lunch time and I don’t have any kekesaigas to eat with my b...

The dream JOB

Have you ever wondered if the career you have now, is the career you've always dreamed of? Is it what you had in mind while you were in School? Is it what you worked towards and wanted to become while you were growing up? I keep wondering about my career now compared to what I've always wanted to become or wanted as a career. I remember all the things I wanted to be when I grew up and they all have something to do with me being my OWN BOSS. No one to boss me around, I make my own hours, take vacation whenever, run my own business and do my own thing. Photographer was always in the picture somewhere, But being in Business Banking for one of the largest Banks in Hawaii was never in the plan. So yeah, it pays the bills, keeps things going. But am I really happy with the job? Do I enjoy being a Business Banker? Do I like the hours? Well? NO! I don't like the job. Don't get me wrong, its a really good job with great benefits/perks, the people are friendly, its a wonderful en...

HYPE - EXCELLENT move

Some of my tongan friends have talked to me about this movement and I thought it was a great deal. So I thought I'd put it on here so I can help spread the word. HYPE - HELPING YOUTH PURSUE EMANCIPATION The future is looking BRIGHT for our YOUTH if we can all get this message out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BELOW IS TAKEN FROM ANAPESI'S BLOG HYPE MOVEMENT "Helping Youth Pursue Emancipation" How did the HYPE Movement begin? The HYPE Movement was started by young Tongan university students who were devastated by the increase in high school dropout rates, incarceration rates, and death rates in our Pacific Islander community. They wanted be engaged in bringing about a positive change in our young people. They wanted to be involved in a grassroots movement that would bring all youth together (regardless of race, class, and gender) united under one cause—the power to live our dreams and to emancipate (free) ourselves fr...

Village Herrings Ban Wins Strong Support

Written by: Lua Salei The banned use of cartons of herring for traditional family obligations by the Savai’i village of Sili, has the excited support of village mayors, working to overcome the unnecessary financial burdens cultural practices hold for families. The Sili village leaders made a public announcement last week for villagers living in or outside the village, to cease from the popular use of cartons of herrings for family traditional commitments. The man who is spearheading the village leaders drive to streamline the cost of cultural commitments, Maulolo Tavita, described the Sili village decision as an example of good governance. Maulolo is also the assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Women and Social Community. “Sili has taken a different approach from the other villages by banning the use of herrings which is a popular item required for family obligations,” he felt. “Other villages have taken different approaches where the culture is not taken advantage o...

Never Mind the Resolutions

Every New Year's Eve, I always have a bunch of resolutions lined up for me to work towards. Yeah, ask me if I've ever achieved any of those resolutions? The answer is NO NO and a major NO. So this year, instead of setting resolutions that I never seem to follow, I decided to turn these resolutions into goals,(if there's a difference)just go with the flow, focus and do what I can and maybe I'll be happy with the result later on, OR, I won't. Simple as that. Instead of talk talk talk and no walk the talk.Ioe. So for 2009, I plan to be a HEALTHY human being.(and i plan to drag my S into this one as well) which means, no more eating ice cream @ midnight, no more junk food, limit the chocolate intake & the lololo foods that S loves to make, and start doing some kind of exercise I also plan work towards giving up drinking COMPLETELY. I think I mite be the only human with a heart problem who still drinks like an idiot..nurrguurrd..I can't promise anything though, a...

Ahhhh, Forget It...

I try my best to update this blog as best I can BUT, somehow, it doesn't always end up that way. I either don't ever have the time OR I'm just plain tired(lazy).. So here's just a recap of what's been happening since my last post. Leaving on a Jet Plane: 4days before Xmas, we & (our lil niece Mie) caught the 5pm flight out to PagoPago where we had no choice but spend the night and fly out the next morning because there was no more connecting flights from Pago to Upolu (ridiculous). 1pm, 3days before Xmas, we landed at Faleolo airport to the familiar steamy humid breeze blowing at us. GOsh it was fickin' HOT. Nevertheless, it was good to be back home. Sam's dad picked us up from the airport, and I must admit, it was really weird having picked up by someone else from the airport other than my own parents or some of my friends. I guess I'm used to seeing those faces after checking out from customs everytime I get home. Had lunch with the Meredith Ohana ...

Planning Sucks (sometimes)

Amen to That! This whole week, I've been making plans with some friends. Friday Night Lights--Jimmy Choos out of the closet--possible club hoppin'--cocktails at Maitais (or whereever we were suppose to meet at)--and drink ourselves silly until all the septic tanks was do the pafaf; all in celebration of Mz Fawdu's graduation with her Masters of the Universe tomorrow from UH-Manoa. CONGRATULATIONS GIRRRRRLLLL! You make us ALL PROUD :) Needless to say, All the planning got canceled. Some things came up and we all decided to stay in tonite and celebrate tomorrow after the graduation. Brilliant idea, because we don't want Fotu's name to be called out and she's asleep in her seat, ahar. BUT, then there's me, sitting home all by my lonesome self, with nothing but the sound of the wind (and my washing machine running a load)..aaaaahhhhhhh.. What to do? What to do? Everyone in my household is gone to most probably a dinner and a movie, (Typical Laie routine on the ...
