I sailed the HOKULEA today!!!

So work retreat continues and today we sailed the HOKULEA!!

I feel so cool to be part of this adventure and to be on the canoe today!

The one amazing thing I took away from today was how the Hawaiians value and treasure their culture. As an fellow, islander, I could feel the 'mana' present today as the canoe took us out. 

You can see the passion in crew members from miles away. Not only passion for what they do, but also passionate about what this means to their people, the legacy of HOKULEA and what this 'vaa' and 'kuleana' does to them as the 'kanaka fanua'.

It was a priceless experience - and thank you American Savings bank for being a major sponsor for the HOKULEA. I'm proud to be a part of a company who gives back n provides unwavering support for the local communities.

WOW...life must've been really interesting the last 2 years - - So as I try to figure out my life for 2020, let's recount from where we left off in 2017, shall we? hhhmmmmm 2018, let's see. I resigned from the bank because I needed a break. 2 weeks later I started a job at the State Capitol. (What can I say - Never say DIE! lol) I was excited for the opportunity to make a difference and affect change in our local communities. Needless to say, it wasn't what I expected it to be and like anything in government, it was all a bunch of hot air and no action. Action-less promises! The system is severely  BROKEN, the Capitol NEEDs Young Blood, we need educated politicians who actually walk the talk, and OMG the procedures and processes are still stuck in the 90's - and we wonder why nothing gets done in government. Pinterest is my new best friend. Oka! so many nice ideas and random things. I'm usually on there to stalk home decor because I'm a neat freak and a wannabe Martha Stuart like that. Right now, I'm looking for ways to stack children's toys nicely so it doesn't take up much room.
